This story begins with friendship, fortune, and a humble desire to do something meaningful. Nearly six years ago, Manpreet Singh and I joined the same Silicon Valley based cloud consulting firm at almost the exact same time. Over the years, we developed deep friendship, mutual respect, and shared perspectives.
From Silicon Valley Cloud Consulting to Handcrafted Tradition
Lioness started with simple questions: 'Is it possible?' 'What if we...?' It felt bold and perhaps a bit irrational to imagine a couple of tech professionals transforming a centuries-old artisanal craft. Having been fortunate in our technology careers, we wanted to ensure our second act created lasting good.
We set three ambitious goals from day one. First, Finest Quality in the World: designing a handcrafted process to create the highest quality tile, tested by leading university engineering professors. Second, Impactful Design: creating modern, clean-lined options alongside timeless patterns that endure for ages.

The Three Foundational Pillars: Quality, Design, and Social Good
Our third pillar was Social Good: making a genuine human impact. This mission became truly possible when we brought in Manpreet's wife, Daminder Kaur. Daminder provided the clarity, leadership, and passion for training women artisans. She now leads Lioness as Managing Director, while Manpreet and I actively support the team.
