"Lioness Tile came as a wonderful opportunity for me to learn something new, master a craft, and become independent."

It is stories like Mamta Devi’s that we aim to help write every single day and bring proudly to the forefront. Mamta is a native of Bagru village and our very first artisan, who has become fully adept in the intricate art of handcrafted cement tile making.

From Daily Wage Laborer to Master Tile Artisan

Previously working in local factories as a daily wage laborer, Mamta reflects: 'Born and brought up in a small village of Bagru, my dreams and expectations were as humble as my life and background. Lioness Tile came as a wonderful opportunity for me to learn something new and be independent.'

Though nervous when pouring her first tile mold, the experience itself was thrilling. From measuring color pigments to experimenting with intricate geometric designs, every day brings continuous learning, personal pride, and creative accomplishment.

Dignity, Family Pride, and Safe Creative Workspaces

Mamta's family is deeply supportive of her work due to the safe, respectful, and friendly atmosphere cultivated in the workshop. For rural families, having a stable, dignified, and empowering environment makes a world of difference.

"From mixing colors to pressing intricate designs, every day brings a new opportunity to learn, create, and grow."

Mamta strongly believes that initiatives like Lioness Tile serve as an essential platform for rural women to step outside their comfort zones, master creative heritage skills, and receive genuine recognition for their hard work and talent.

By celebrating artisans like Mamta Devi, we honor the heart and soul of Lioness Tile. Every tile that leaves our studio carries the dignity, perseverance, and pride of the women who craft it.

"Providing rural women with a safe, dignified platform to showcase their craft is at the very heart of everything we build."
